Internship
At the end of August in 2016, I became the president of Climate Reality Project Campus Corps chapter at FIU. The Climate Reality Project is an international non-profit founded by former Vice President Al Gore. This organization is committed to ending climate change, and our chapter mission is to get President Rosenburg to commit FIU to 100% renewable electricity by the year 2030. During my time in office, I regularly organized and conducted events, delegated duties of the organization, and maintained relationships with affiliates. Additionally, I collaborated with our Events Coordinator to facilitate weekly petition drives. The CRPCC FIU chapter has gained over 7,500 signatures with a goal of 10,000--we have by far the most signatures out of the other 30 chapters nation-wide. In November of 2016, I also coordinated and spoke at a press conference that our chapter held on the Grahm Center lawns at FIU. We had the great pleasure of welcoming two esteemed speakers: professor and enviormentalist, Dr. John Cozza and professor and Mayor of South Miami, Dr. Philip Stoddard. My time as president came to an end in Fall 2017, but my commitment to this organization has not as I am now an active general member. The fight to end climate change still goes on as our chapter continues to expand and strengthen.
